Zone Health and Fitness "In The Zone" System
Zone Health and Fitness, based on Salisbury in Adelaide came to us with the need for a dynamic, easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain presentation system for use during Group Fitness classes in their fitness studios. The "In The Zone" system is a powerful multimedia presentation system which enables the creation of timed multimedia presentations for specific programs taught at the gym.
The Administration component of the system enables the administration team to create and manage their instructors, programs and slides in the system, including image uploads and resizing. The Manage Presentation module enables the team to create a presentation, including dynamic re-ordering of slides and modification of display times.
During gym operation, their group fitness instructors can launch the system, and launch a presentation that can follow key time cues throughout the music for the class, enabling a fresh, motivating and informative presentation on the Zone's multiple data projectors in the fitness studios for participants to read and be inspired by while sweating it out.
The lead development of this project was with Marty, who himself has background in the industry as a group fitness instructor, providing valuable insight into the importance of key requirements for the system, and the ability to communicate with the Zone team using the same language.
The system also enables full configuration of system settings, and has the capability to run in a client-server environment featuring a PHP/MySQL backend and a series of XML feeds to enable communication between Flash, Director and the server.
