Carousel MediaWith a strong visual identity already prepared in her stunning business card, it was mjf multimedia's job to translate the style, look and feel of Carousel Media's business card into a full, interactive and accessible rich media website.

Built in Flash 9, powered by ActionScript 3.0, this site includes video components with streaming closed captions, an intuitive navigation system and a host of accessibility features. This site was built following the recommendations of the Flash Content Accessibility Guidelines, developed by Marty Friedel at the University of South Australia.

Navigation and Options can be accessed through consistently-placed links in the upper-right corner of the window to enable the content to take main central focus without obtrusive navigation mechanisms. These links launch a slick menu placed over the content of the site, with full site navigation and access to accessibility options.

Accessibility features in this site include:

  • alternative (text-based) content for all visual elements
  • dynamic resizing of Flash content based on browser window size
  • contrast control to boost the site into a high contrast mode dynamically
  • ability to turn animations on or off
  • logically accessible through keyboard interactions
  • link to an accessible XHTML version

This site is a superb example of accessible Flash, and the potential of implementing accessibility within Flash while still mainting a great visual flair.
